Children's book Cover - Meet Meat

Introducing 'Meet Meat' - A funny and cute rhyming book for kids ages 4-10 that helps teach important life lessons about overcoming fear, trusting in God and finding your special purpose in life.

‘Meet Meat’ is an entertaining, fun, and engaging story with a purpose, written in a memorable Seuss-like rhyme. Perfect for children ages 4-10, Meet Meat uses the adventures of a lovable dairy cow named Meat to encourage kids to overcome fear, break free of stereotypes, and become their best version of themselves.

While written for kids, the book serves as a reminder to readers of all ages that though we face major challenges and fears in life, we can look to God in our darkest moments and trust Him to deliver us. It also emphasizes and celebrates every person’s unique gifts and abilities and encourages people everywhere to find their own special version of “Moo-hoo!”

The story: Meat is a sweet dairy cow known for her positivity and encouragement. When Meat learns that her owner, Farmer Drew, has decided to sell her to a butcher to raise money for a new plow, she becomes depressed and distraught. She seeks counsel from her friends and is advised to pray for deliverance. Renewed by her prayer and filled with hope, she courageously seizes her opportunity and becomes a “Wow-Cow” barista at the local Steerbucks cafe. With her caffeinated udders, Meat becomes a local favorite and then a national star.

Meat reminds us to never give up in the face of adversity and to believe in a Creator who loves us and equips us with special gifts for the sake of others in need.

Dean The Bean gets a Screen book cover

Introducing "Dean the Bean gets a Screen": A funny and cute rhyming book for kids ages 4-10 that helps teach important life lessons about screen addiction.

“Dean the Bean gets a Screen” is an entertaining, fun, and engaging story with a purpose, written in a memorable Seuss-like rhyme.

Perfect for children ages 4-10, this book offers an easy way for parents to introduce their kids to the vital issue of “screen addiction” through a likable character named Dean the Bean. While written for kids, the book serves as a reminder to us all that we are human beings with lives worth living and opportunities to experience–not just “Do-Nothing Beans” addicted to our favorite virtual leash.

The story: Dean is a cute, bored bean who wants excitement in his life. When he discovers the joys and encompassing fascination offered by various electronic platforms/screens (televisions, computers, cell phones, etc.), he forfeits his real life for life ‘on the screen.’ Dean soon gets addicted to his screens and his real life suffers. At last he realizes that his virtual-world has lost its color, but he finds his way back to the beauty of real-life when he steps away from his screens and their ‘make-pretend existence.’

Dean encourages us all to put our screens in ‘time-out’ from time-to-time so we can experience the joys that await us when we unplug from their influence. Screens are fun and useful, but they can take over our lives if we’re not careful. Dean the Bean is like The Social Dilemma for kids—it sounds the warning in a hilarious format that children can understand.

Wrapper for President is an entertaining, fun, and engaging story with a purpose, written in a memorable Seuss-like rhyme. Perfect for children ages 4-12, Wrapper for President uses the adventures of a blue gift wrapping tube named June to encourage kids to dream big, set meaningful life goals, and achieve their goals no matter what history, culture, or detractors might say to discourage them. It also aims to teach kids (and parents) some new, challenging vocabulary…

The story: June the Tube is a friendly and respected resident of the land of Giftagoo. She is looking for ways to make a bigger difference in her community and calls in her good friend and life coach, Clyde the Sloth, to help her dream louder. After careful consideration, June decides that she is going to run for President of Giftagoo so she can help those who are struggling and to make Giftagoo the best place to live. But when she excitedly tells her “friends” about her dream and her goals, they do not support her like she thought they would. In fact, all they do is tell her how she has no chance to become President of Giftagoo because of her limitations (finances, history, gender, etc.). But June doesn’t let these realities and discouragements stop her from going after her big dream. And with Clyde alongside her, she runs a successful political campaign and becomes President of Giftagoo. As President, June, with the help of her Vice President Clyde, makes Giftagoo the best place to live and helps its people live their best lives.

June is a reminder to all of us that we cannot let anything or anyone discourage us from chasing meaningful dreams.

About the Author: Cal Heen

Cal Heen is a writer from Pasadena, California, who is dedicated to making kids (and their parents) laugh. Cal thinks that laughter is crucial to physical and mental health and believes people need “jolts of funny” to power them through complex lives in a world that takes itself too seriously.

He is happy to be one of the providers of these jolts.

Who is Cal Heen?

According to Cal, he is married to a supermodel rocket scientist named Fern.  He claims they live in a bomb shelter in Muleshoe, Texas, where they breed both toucans and kookaburras.  Cal also insists he invented the guy who invented Twitter, is Cocomelon’s #1 fan, and that he can sing John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt in every known language.

In reality, Cal is married to a professional surfer named Ashley, and they live in Venice Beach, where they raise their 3 children.   Cal loves the music of The Smiths, most books by Orwell, and every stand-up by Brian Regan.
